All about the Westovian Theatre Society at the Pier Pavilion in South Shields

Welcome to The Westovian Theatre Society's web site. We are one of South Tyneside's leading amateur theatre groups producing a variety of senior and junior productions each year.

You can contact the theatre at any time using the details below. The Westovians are always eager to welcome people interested in presenting high quality theatre in a professional manner.

We welcome budding actors, people interested in the various disciplines of stagecraft, such as: sound recording, lighting design, set building, wardrobe, props, admin skills etc. "It's great fun and rewarding for people of all abilities, but main qualification is the ability to work and enjoy yourself".

We look forward to hearing from you!

Heritage Weekend Open Day:

Our doors will be open for you to come and have a look around our wonderful theatre. Having started life as an old sea side shelter it was converted into a small community theatre in 1948. It was used by a number of societies until the Westovians took over the building in 1977. Internally, the original old cast iron columns and fretted iron arch spandrels give touches of visual delight and Victorian character. We have a raked 273 seat (with 14 accessible places for wheelchairs), auditorium with plush red 1930s tip-up seats that are contained between a run of cast iron columns either side of the auditorium. We perform 8 shows per season including our sell-out pantomime. Our coffee bar will be open for refreshments.
